My name is Jeremiah Palecek and I have over a decade of experience teaching at the University level to students from all over the globe. I started off teaching in Prague, Czech Republic at Prague College before moving to Boulder Colorado where I currently teach Beginning Painting at CU Boulder.
I’m represented by Giampietro Gallery in New Haven Connecticut and have had numerous exhibitions around the world including at Pompidou Metz in France, Schirn Kunsthalle in Germany, and Musée de l‘Elysée in Switzerland. I have attended school at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Glasgow School of Art and the University of Colorado Boulder.
I want all of my students to feel comfortable first with the fundamentals of painting which I learned while at the Academy. Being taught about master painting techniques from a young age was a tremendous help to me. And it’s something that can never be taken away. I feel like too many undergrad painting classes place too much emphasis on concept to the detriment of the fundamentals. I also want my students to be able to look at other artists who inspire them, identify the techniques which they use, and incorporate those into their own work. We live in a time where someone can choose to paint in a variety of styles, so I really want to know what my students like so I can help them achieve those goals of emulating those who they look up to. This often involves teaching them how to blog and organize their ideas about they are looking at, and what they are thinking about.
